What is JIVA? A Technical Overview

Here is the sentence that I usually use to describe JIVA:

“JIVA is a secure, generic, volunteer computing-based grid architecture.”

If you understand the constellation of grid computing architectures out there, this probably makes sense. If you are someone more like my mom, who is really smart but not a software engineer, it might take a little more explanation to make what JIVA is clear.

I’m going to write a series of short articles through the week that will cover the elements of this statement in some detail. The posts will tackle the definitions from right-to-left. This is a bit unorthodox, but so is naming your company “Brain Murmurs,” isn’t it?
