JIVA redux, request for proposals
From CEO Daniel Pasco’s blog:
Brain Murmurs and Giant Campus are going to do a Cyber Camps grid computing project for the third year running!
Last year our focus was more on measuring how much work the system could do: we were able to handle all of the 600+ computers participating in the exercise. This year we’ll have around 1,500 machines running the JIVA client, a new record for us. We’d like to do something more meaningful than just coming up with a proof-of-concept benchmark, so we’re looking for a candidate application we can run over the summer on Giant Campus’ resources.
We’re currently looking at doing a deep map of the Mandelbrot set, which should make for a good looking screen saver and will also provide an interesting topic of discussion for the kids at the camp.
However, if anyone can use about 4,500 cpu-months of processing time and they have an interesting problem that is naturally parallel, please contact us as soon as possible by sending email to jiva AT brainmurmurs.com.
