Pulse on Linux

A considerable amount of interest has been expressed in using Pulse from a linux laptop to share a BlackBerry’s internet connection.
To further the compatiblity of Pulse, we have launched into a small project of getting Pulse to work as a bluetooth dialup networking option for the Linux  platform. In this project,  we are using […]

Pulse now features BES support

Our engineering team has modified Pulse to work with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. We are currently going through a QA evaluation but should have a new, BES-enabled build posted on our downloads page by Monday.

Pulse Gateway Source Code Available for Download

Sorry for the lack of postings! Most of the staff is taking the holidays off, so it’s just Garrett Kelly and I right now.
The Pulse Gateway source code is available for download. Documentation is sparse. This will be updated as we move forward.

The Pulse Gateway is Now Available for Download

Sorry for the delay. Installer packages, available as either a self-extracting binary for i386 Linux or a Universal build for OS X, can be downloaded here.
Please note that you should be moderately clueful about network administration before attempting this. If you don’t know what “sudo” is or you don’t know how to open […]

Bluetooth Stack Test Methodology

A few people have asked how we tested the BlackBerry Bluetooth performance, so here it is.
I wrote an application for the BlackBerry called BlueBlaster and another application for OS X called MacBlaster. The BlueBlaster application accepts incoming connections from the MacBlaster application. Once a connection is received, the BlueBlaster program starts dumping data […]

The RIM Bluetooth Stack, continued

Several people have suggested that we ask RIM what the problem is directly.
Yes, we’ve been trying, so far this hasn’t been a favorable environment for information gathering.

Pulse Proxy To Be Released This Week

Beta results are looking excellent, so we’re going to cut our 1.0 Linux and OS X builds and get them out the door this week.

What did RIM Do To Their Bluetooth Performance?

The BlackBerry’s Bluetooth performance has been impacted across the board in the latest series RIM’s BlackBerry OS 4.1 updates. These updates appear to primarily impact the 8700 and 7100 series Blackberry devices.

Cingular 4.1.0.377 Update: Would you like this poison build?

I do NOT recommend that Cingular users of Pulse get the new update that is available. Build 377 includes the same Bluetooth crippling feature that all of the other carriers are experiencing (Pulse download speeds drop from 220 kps to a meager 64 kps!)
If you can avoid it, I suggest sticking with build 4.1.0.175.

Pulse Gateway for Linux Status Update

The new linux gateway looks good and is being handed over to beta testers to try out. If it looks good we’ll post it for general download later in the week.
