JIVA is a grid computing software suite that uses volunteer supercomputing to create virtual clusters, virtual private clusters, virtual private grids, and composite grid networks.
It has long been known that volunteer computing can provide incredibly cost effective access to supercomputing power by letting businesses harness the idle cycles of their own desktop computers and servers. Unfortunately, until now the benefits have largely been outweighed by the potential risks. Contemporary supercomputing systems present too many risks for most customers: existing systems are complicated and expensive, and most volunteer system are too insecure for people to turn loose on their regular desktop computing infrastructure.
Only JIVA provides the security, ease of use, and affordability to make this dream a practical reality. Not only that, JIVA can let you safely tap the power of your Windows, OS X, Linux, and Solaris* based computers.
Many of the businesses that require supercomputing actually have a core compentency unrelated to grid computing. They have, however, discovered that supercomputing can be used to support their businesses in a way that gives them an advantage over their competitors. JIVA allows you to focus on your business and enjoy the benefits of supercomputing without getting overwhelmed trying to manage a complex and expensive solution.
Unlike some vendors, whose offerings start at prices of up to $75,000, you can start out with as small a JIVA network as you like. When you're ready to increase the size of you deployment we'll be happy to upgrade your licensing plan.
If you are interested in evaluating JIVA you can download the JIVA Server with a permanent license for 4 Clients for free. If you are interested in seeing how JIVA's performance scales we will be happy to provide you with an unlimited Client license good for 30 days.
JIVA is a volunteer supercomputing system you can run on your own office desktop computers. A typical deployment consists of 10 or more computers running the JIVA Client and a single JIVA Server (see below).

The JIVA Clients, which are available as either a screen saver or a background process, run tasks provided by the JIVA Server whenever they determine that the computer on which they are running is idle.
The task application can be upgraded or changed at the JIVA Server; all of the Clients will automatically download the new task library at startup. Similarly, the JIVA Client itself can be updated by placing a new Client Kernel library on the Server as well.
In order to insure the very highest degree of safety for your machines, the JIVA Client runs a Security Manager that performs strict run time checks against the code. Any attempt to perform operations not specifically granted by the Client's security policy will result in the immediate and pre-emptive termination of the JIVA Client.
We have gone to great lengths to design a system that will not add any burdens to the administrators of the world (we know you have enough on your plates as it is, folks). JIVA is easy to deploy and configure and requires no interaction or administration once it has been installed.
Brain Murmurs has already made the JMSL math and science libraries available to JIVA applications through our partnership with Visual Numerics. We are commited to developing new compelling applications to the JIVA framework, and porting existing applications to JIVA as well. Our forthcoming JIVA SDK* will make developing your own JIVA-enabled applications a snap.
Our own Professional Services group is available to do custom development or support your installation at reasonable rates.
