Energy conversion deals with the transformation of energy from one form to another, for instance, converting hot gases in a combustion chamber into a low-enthalpy directed stream via a De Laval nozzle. The field typically deals with reacting gases in constantly changing equilibrium conditions but can be extended to nuclear power and alternative energy sources as well. In particular, it deals with energy stored in working fluids as vibrational, chemical, or nuclear energy and its conversion to kinetic energy for doing work.
