In our work with Apptis we integrated Microsoft LCS and IRC functionality with Twisted Pair's Dispatch Communicator system. The Apptis Unified Communicator project modifies and integrates existing software components in order to allow for a more 'unified' application to run several otherwise standalone programs (see below).
A central chat presence list has been implemented to support WAVE text messaging and presence with equivalent Microsoft Live Communications Server and IRC functionality. This prototype has also been retrofitted to display streaming video embedded within the main Dispatch Communicator Application, and provide added toolbar functionality to quickly launch relevant web links quickly and easily from within the unified application.

Finally, a basic LDAP-authenticating Corporate Directory table has been added with the ability to search for contacts by first and last name and make h.323 calls from directly within the Unified Communicator.

Brain Murmurs' Role
  • Brain Murmurs defined the architecture and project plan based on functional and schedule requirements from Apptis. We also worked with Apptis and Twisted Pair to design the new user interface for the new application.
