Versada developer a three-tier enterprise presence management infrastructure based on extensions to existing VOIP/presence management protocols (SIP and SIMPLE). Originally hired as a senior developer but received recognition for abilities and was added to the architecture team within four months. Given full responsibility for the Versada Presence Agent Server, a middleware layer between client software and database system. Served as the lead engineer for the server's development team, which consisted of engineers located in Bellevue and at Hughes Software Systems in Bangalore, India.

Versada was unable to secure funds for continued operations and was forced to layoff its employees

Daniel developed a Java network listener/protocol stack implementation based on the HSS SIP stack, which is written in C. This package provided the ability to send and receive messages via UDP or TCP and parse or construct SIP messages from within Java. The package provided UDP retransmission management compliant with the SIP specification and made extensive use of the Java Native Interface (JNI). This package was used with Solaris 2.8, Microsoft Windows, and Linux.
