Pulse Gateway Server
Notes Pulse requires a proxy server to work. You can set up your own private Pulse Gateway on any compatible Linux or Mac computer at home or work with dedicated broadband internet access.
Brain Murmurs is in NO WAY responsible for ANY damage that may occur to your system or network as a result of
using this service. Running a network server is inherently RISKY and should only be done by people
that know what they are doing and what they are getting into.
If someone manages to authenticate with your Pulse Gateway they
will have BYPASSED YOUR NETWORK FIREWALL. At that point your
machines will only have their own built-in security mechanisms
to protect them from malicious attacks.
The Pulse Gateway will clear any customized IP forwarding set up on the machine. If you have customized the IP forwarding on your machine you should download the gateway source instead and modify the NAT scripts yourself
You need to know how to do the following things if you are seriously
thinking about hosting your own Pulse Gateway.
1. Ability to open a port on your network firewall
2. Administrative access to a Mac or Linux PC
3. Knowledge of your network's external IP address
4. A Pulse-compatible Blackberry (yes, you guessed it) running Pulse 1.02 or higher
A considerable amount of time was spent making the Pulse Gateway as simple to use as possible. If additional help is required, please see our forums.
Paid support for the Pulse Gateway is available if necessary.
